Not affiliated with any government agency or employer

The USA Jobs (theusajobs.com) is an independent website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by USAJOBS, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), any U.S. federal, state or local government agency, or any employer mentioned on this site. Agency names, seals and company names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the employer offering a job.

We never charge job seekers

We never charge applicants any fee, and applying for a U.S. federal job on USAJOBS is always free. We will never ask you for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, bank details or your Social Security number. Anyone who claims to be from The USA Jobs and asks for payment or personal financial information is not us.

Accuracy of job information

We summarize information from official job announcements and link to the source. Pay, locations, requirements and closing dates can change, and announcements can close early. The official listing is always the final authority. Confirm every detail there before applying. Our content is general information, not legal, financial or career advice, and we cannot guarantee any hiring outcome.

How to spot a job scam

  • Official federal jobs are on USAJOBS. Check that the web address ends in .gov (for example, usajobs.gov), and that agency emails come from .gov or .mil addresses.
  • No real employer asks you to pay for an application, training, equipment, a background check or a “guaranteed” job.
  • Be wary of instant offers made by text message or chat app without a formal application or interview, especially if the offer comes with high pay for little work.
  • Never send a check back or forward money for an employer. Fake-check schemes are a common job scam.
  • Protect your identity. Do not share your Social Security number or bank details until you have a verified offer through the official hiring process.
  • Report scams to the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and, for internet-based fraud, to the FBI at IC3.gov.
