What You’ll Be Doing

As a Civil Engineer for DLA Installation Operations Susquehanna, you’ll handle a wide range of maintenance and construction projects, including:

  • Roads, streets, parking facilities, and railroad systems
  • Drainage, sewers, water, steam, and gas distribution lines
  • Building exteriors, interiors, and structural systems (administrative, industrial, and special-purpose buildings)
  • Recreational facilities and grounds improvements

You’ll develop project plans, design criteria, budgets, and detailed estimates. You’ll also conduct field investigations and collaborate with contracting representatives to resolve issues during construction. Projects can range from new builds to alterations and modifications of existing structures.

It’s a hands-on role that combines engineering expertise with real-world problem-solving in a mission-critical environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify, you’ll need:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent education/experience that meets professional engineering standards.
  • One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level (or equivalent), such as applying civil engineering principles to roadway design, load calculations, and utility infrastructure.
  • Alternatively, a Ph.D. or equivalent graduate education, or a combination of education and experience.

Salary and Location

  • Pay: $84,601 – $109,975 per year
